Question: Under what circumstances is it okay to take small amounts of office supplies from work without asking?

Most businesses would say never. If you are using them for personal use, it's stealing.

I believe the term is 'theft' since it is office supplies. Unless the items were being thrown out, or set out for 'take home or it gets recycled', it's not ok.
